No, this is not an April Fools joke! Oliveda just launched a new line of pet care products with their hero ingredient Hydroxytyrosol at the heart.

​Is That Matty?​

Oliveda's founder, Thomas, shared that Is That Matty? was created in honor of his dog, Matty, who passed away in February 2025. Matty was well known in Venice Beach, and people would always stop and ask, “Is that Matty?” That became the inspiration behind the name.

What makes this line different?

Oliveda's in-house Holistic Veterinarian, Dr. Lindsey Wendt explains that dogs’ skin is dramatically thinner and more vulnerable than human skin.

Dogs only have about 3–5 outer skin barrier layers, while humans have 10–15 layers.

That means dogs are:

• More sensitive to irritation
• More reactive to allergens
• More prone to inflammation
• More affected by harsh ingredients + preservatives

And according to veterinary clinics, allergic skin disease is one of the top reasons dogs are brought in for treatment.

The cycle often becomes:
​itching → scratching → broken skin → bacteria/yeast → more inflammation

Most pet shampoos are 70–80% water, which dilutes the active ingredients and requires more preservatives. Is That Matty uses olive fruit juice/oil as the base, making the formula bioactive from ingredient one.
